Sabrina Ionescu recently just became the first Division I player in history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 assists & 1,000 rebounds in a career. She is also a triple-double machine with the total of 26. The 5–11 guard is projected to head to the The New York Liberty as the №1 pick in the 2020 WNBA draft. But first, Sabrina Ionescu and her fellow Oregon Ducks still have ‘unfinished business’, as she’s looking to bring the first women’s national title to Oregon. Already a legendary career; however, Ionescu is just getting started.

Real definition of a hooper. Sabrina Ionescu’s game is flawless. She’s an all-around player that can do everything, that’s why she is able to rack up so many easy assists, buckets and boards. There is no doubt in Sabrina’s ability to score, she is a knockdown shooter and can drive all the way to the rim. But her passing ability is what opens up opportunities for her to pull up, and get to easy spots. She is a dynamic and transcendent passer. Her pocket passes often cause a lot trouble for the opposing team’s defense every night. When the defenders try to prevent the pick-and-roll situations between Ionescu and her bigs, she can counter with her ‘money’ jump shot. If you let her gets a shot off anywhere in the 10 to 15 foot area, it’s ‘straight cash’.

Ionescu already showed us that she’s capable of playing at the pro level. In November, Ionescu posted 30 points and 7 assists in Oregon’s 93–86 upset over the U.S. women’s national team, marked Team USA first loss against a college team in 20 years.

Sabrina Ionescu is making a big impact not just for women’s basketball but for basketball in general. She’s the nation’s best college basketball player and leader in triple-double. Game recognize game, many NBA players are taking notice of Ionescu. A few examples, Jordan Bell from the Minnesota Timberwolves once arrived to the game in Sabrina Ionescu’s jersey. LeBron James shouted ‘Queen Sabrina’ out on Twitter after one of her triple-double performances. Steph Curry attended a Ducks game with his daughters, Riley and Ryan, where they got to witness Ionescu’s 25th career triple-double.

Before Kobe Bryant and Gianna passed away, Ionescu had a chance to form a close relationship with the two. Kobe was Ionescu’s mentor and Gianna was her mentee. Ionescu trained with Kobe to develop as a player, leader, and person. Kobe even had an entire episode of his ESPN+ show “Detail”, breaking down on how she operates in the pick-and-roll. Plus, Ionescu was Gianna’s favorite player. Last summer, Ionescu spent some time practicing with Gianna, she even helped assisting Gianna and the Mambas’ games, coached by Kobe. Ionescu said she would dedicate the rest of this season to her “close friend”.

Hours after speaking at the memorial service for Kobe and Gianna Bryant, Sabrina Ionescu made history by becoming the first Division 1 man or woman to have 2K points, 1K rebounds, and 1K assists… on 2/24/20! “That one was from him. To do it on 2–24–20 is huge.”, Ionescu said.

Kobe saw the potential in Ionescu, and it’s safe to say that she’s living up to it. What Ionescu is doing is special, she has been tremendous for women in sports. Whether you are a man or woman, you have to respect Sabrina Ionescu’s greatness. She is the present and absolutely part of the future, women’s hoops is in good hands. It’s Sabrina Ionescu’s world, and we’re just living in it.
